Mexico
City
Evangelical Friends Mission's
first cooperative missions project, begun in 1967, was in Mexico. There
are three Friends Churches in the Mexico City (star on map) area and another about
to begin. Property has been purchased for a Yearly Meeting/basketball
camp headquarters at Jalatlaco and building there may begin soon.
Aguascalientes
In May 2003,
EFM decided to expand its
work in Mexico to a new field. Central Mexico is one of the most unevangelized areas in the world. EFM
has sent a team to
Aguascalientes, Mexico (red arrow on map below).
Jeremy & Betty Smuck,
Edwin & Maria Giron,
Candi Foster and
Andrea Byrne (at right) are in
Aguascalientes establishing relationships with a variety of people
there. The Girons arrived in Aguascalientes in February 2008.
Sinaloa
In 2006, EFM adopted Sinaloa (blue arrow on map
below) as a new mission field. This field, begun by EFC-MA, is in an
area that has a population with less than 1% to 2% evangelical Christians.
A training center is being built in Siete Ejidos, the current field
headquarters. Plans are to extend the mission to the surrounding
villages and start a church planting movement. EFM is currently
seeking a missionary candidate for this field. If you believe God is
calling you to serve on this field, read EFM's
invitation to service and then
contact their office. (More on Sinaloa coming soon.)
