The
Republic of the Philippines is an island country in southeastern
Asia. Luzon and Mindanao, the two largest islands, make up more than
two thirds of the country. The population is 84,526,000 with nearly
17% evangelicals.
Evangelical
Friends Church/Eastern Region
began mission work in the Greater Manila area in 1978 with Jaime
Tabingo as national director. The ministry later came under the
supervision of Evangelical Friends Mission. The ministry has grown
into a full Yearly Meeting, organized in 1995. Friends, under the
leadership of
Jaime and Lydia
Tabingo, now have approximately twenty-seven churches up from
sixteen churches in 1998.
Jaime teaches in the Manila Bible College and his students plant
churches as part of their practical work.
