April 2008

Greetings Prayer Warriors,

Please forgive the delay in this update. Pastor Azim got sic (flu) the week before I returned, so I spent the rest of February and the first part of March taking care of the Persian Church. Pastor Azim is well and back on his chemo. His prognosis is very good.

The trip to Europe went well, there are good things to report and some setbacks.

Germany

Yashar has finished his level 3 welding course and can now find a more suitable job. This will be free him up to visit our groups and work on our 2 translation projects. On the setbacks, 3 of our house church leaders have moved because of economics (new jobs in new cities). This has left 3 of our groups in the Hannover area without leaders. One of the leaders has moved to Dortmund where Yashar and Shireen live, he has joined their group. Yashar and the other leaders have encouraged the house churches to continue to meet for prayer, fellowship and to use the CD and video teaching materials we left behind for them. We have telephone and email contact information for most of the people in these groups and will follow up with them on a week to week basis.

Iranian New Year Outreach Update: Hannover groups reported 3 people came to the Lord. Dortmund group got together with the Koln group and sponsored a picinic for local residents.

Please pray that the 3 house churches will continue to meet and that we can find new leaders. Also remember Yashar as he looks for a new job.

United Kingdom

Oyan is doing well with his dental hygiene course. His cousin Farshid has taken general oversight of our work in Middlebrough and our 3 groups have merged into 2. Davood moved to London and his group was absorbed into the other 2 groups. Davood is currently settling into life in London, which is a huge change from Middlebrough. Once he gets settled, he plans to start a home church and begin to reach out to the many Iranians in his neighborhood.

Iranian New Year Outreach Update: Middlesbrough groups got together at a local park where they invited Iranians, Afghani, and English people for a day of celebration for the New Year and Easter.

Please pray for Oyan as he lives in Leeds during the school week and only returns home on the weekends to be with Ruth his wife. They are doing well at this time. It works well because Ruth is also working on her doctorate in Psy.

USA

The Church in Orange is officially part of Friends Southwest. It has been an exciting time. With this transition Azim and I have put more attention into the church plant in San deigo and a growing relationship with an Iranian group in Las Vegas. As soon as Azim gains more weight and heals more we will resume the planning of a church plant in Boise Idaho. For those in NW Yearly Meeting, Azim and I will be at Yearly Meeting Sessions.

We have are forming a team to deal with leadership traing and elder training. The core team involves Pastor Azim and Behi, Pastor Roubik (Local Persian Sattelite Ministry), and my self. Our goal is to train leaders and elders, who will then train others. To do this we are needing to identify and translate training materials. Our first project is with Crown Financial Ministries. The first materials will be "The Bible on Money". This will put Biblical stewardship material directly into the hands of our leaders who then can have prepared materials to teach their own groups.

Middle East: Please continue to pray for the workers in country. Although they report good spiritual growth in their groups, it is a very repressive government. We are also resuming the Jesus film project for the Q people. I will continue to update this as the project progresses. Please pray as we revise the script and finally get around to identifying possible voices.

Iranian New Year Outreach Update: Even though the weather was cool, over 30,000 Iranians attended this year's event. Every year as a church and have church in the park. We share food, balloons and of course the Lord's gift of Life. Several new people came to church the following Sundays. 2 weeks ago two people came to the Lord.

Twaddell Family

As a family we are doing well. Jinky continues to see slow growth with her dental office, but it is growing. She still works for two other dentist as her dental office is only open 2 to 3 days a week. Joseph cannot wait to finish High School (next year). His current thinking is to attend a local community college first, then transfer to the State University system. Chris continues to do well in his first year of High School. He still writes stories and sketches. Lately he has been designing and hosting a role playing game on the computer. Daniel is just turning 13, so it is official-a house full of tennagers. He loves to skateboard and recently has been known to skateboard up to 10 miles a day. Aside from work Roy has been doing his geneaological research. He has been spending his time importing pictures and documents into his Family Tree Maker program.

God's Richest Blessings
